Dev Blog #1 | Exploring Our Idea
Hey there!
Welcome to our first dev blog! I’m working on this project with Oran, and we're really excited to finally share what we've been coming up with. Our game is a horror narrative that takes place entirely on a virtual desktop. Imagine logging onto your own computer and slowly realizing something’s very, very wrong. We’re both passionate about this idea and, though horror is new territory for us, we’re eager to bring a fresh approach to the genre.
Our Idea
Our goal is to make a game that feels incredibly personal, like it’s happening on your actual screen. Instead of relying on jump scares, we’re aiming for a slow, unsettling experience. Such as creepy messages, strange glitches, and tough choices that progress you deeper into the story. Each moment is designed to make players feel like they’ve lost control, creating a kind of horror that sticks with you.
How We're Making It
We're building the game in Unity, using a mix of 2D visuals with some 3D elements to make it look like a real computer interface. This setup lets us make the screen feel alive and realistic without overloading the game. There will be strange pop-ups, eerie sound effects and hidden messages that you'll have to find by exploring and choosing different paths. Each choice will affect what you uncover next, so you'll have a lot of control over how the story goes.
What's Next
As of right now, we're setting up the basics and working on the main story. Next, we'll start building the hacking mechanics and adding in the creepy elements that will make it feel like your PC is being controlled. We'll keep you updated on our progress, share some of the inspirations behind the story, and maybe show a few teasers of what's coming.
